Rencontre avec Anne Enright
Anne Enright is one of Ireland’s great contemporary writers who gained international recognition when she won the Booker Prize in 2007 for The Gathering. Her latest book Actress (2020) navigates the past and the present, the glamourous and the tragic. Narrated by her daughter Norah decades after her death, this is the story of actress Katherine O’Dell whose stage and Hollywood career is brought to a resounding stop when she shoots her producer in the foot. Having lived in the shadow of fame, Norah now pieces together the different strands of a singular woman’s life. Join us for a special evening during which Anne Enright discusses her writing with Clíona ní Ríordáin, Sorbonne Nouvelle University.
‘Enright triumphs as a chameleon: memoirist, journalist, critic, daughter – her emotional intelligence knows no bounds.’ The Guardian
‘Stripped raw of any sentimentality, [this] is a critique, a confession, a love letter — and another brilliant novel from Anne Enright.’ The Washington Post
This evening is presented in partnership with Villa Gillet (Lyon)
