U2: Une histoire irlandaise
To mark legendary Irish group U2’s 50th anniversary, the CCI is delighted to host the photography exhibition U2 : Une histoire irlandaise, jointly organised by Tourism Ireland and Paris Match.
It was on 25 September 1976 that Larry Mullen posted the now-mythical small ad, “Drummer seeks musicians to form a band,” on the noticeboard at Mount Temple Comprehensive School in north Dublin. Since then, U2 has toured the world countless times, staging some of the most groundbreaking tours of all time. The band has released 15 studio albums and received numerous awards, including 22 Grammy Awards and Amnesty International’s “Ambassador of Conscience” Award. Nearly ten years after their last studio album, Songs of Experience, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of a new album in late 2026, to follow the July 2026 single Sweet of Dreams.
The exhibition in CCI’s courtyard features a selection of iconic and historic photographs, in the spirit of Paris Match’s renowned photojournalism. It explores the band’s Dublin roots, the people and places that shaped its early history, as well as the profound impact U2 has had on music, culture, and Ireland’s international aura over the past five decades.
