Women's Stories
Sandra Johnston and Susan MacWilliam
Northern Irish visual artists Sandra Johnston and Susan MacWilliam are both interested in unofficial stories, embodied experiences and personal memories, and how many women’s experiences have been largely written out of History.
This evening begins with a screening of short films by both artists. Sandra Johnston, Hélène Alfaro-Hamayon (researcher in Irish Studies at the Université Gustave Eiffel) and moderator Susan Dunne (Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais) will then discuss how the artists' work revisits and reconstructs women’s stories and experiences. Trauma, memory and disputed public space are bound into the artists' observations as well as their own trajectories as engaged female artists from Northern Ireland.
This event is organised in conjunction with Université Gustave Eiffel as part of its project "Cité des dames. Créatrices dans la cité".
