A musical meditation on the relationship of sound to linguistic structures, ‘what is the word’ is an exploration of the work of Samuel Beckett through the music of contemporary composers Benjamin Dwyer, Barry Guy and György Kurtág. The central piece of the programme is a setting of three beautiful texts by Beckett: ‘Neither’, ‘Worstward Ho’ (excerpt) and ‘What is the word’ (Beckett’s last poem). For this Parisian premiere, the talented musicians Benjamin Dwyer (guitar), Barry Guy (double bass) and Maya Homburger (vocals) will be joined by Conor Lovett, renowned actor with Gare Saint Lazare Ireland who will read from the great writer’s work.
