St Brigid’s Day
- Friday 31 January
- 7.30pm, reservation recommended
Saint Brigid is one of Ireland's three patron saints, along with Patrick and Columba, whose feast day is on 1 February. St Brigid’s Day represents the Christianization of what was originally a pagan festival called Imbolc which marked the beginning of spring and honoured the Celtic goddess Brigid who was associated with fertility, healing and poetry. Irish embassies across the world now seize this opportunity to pay tribute to women artists. This year, CCI and the Embassy of Ireland in Paris present an evening of conversation with renowned Irish actor, theatre writer and director Olwen Fouéré and distinguished filmmaker Pat Murphy.
