This evening’s Chapel Session sees two of Ireland’s most promising folk songwriters work wonders.

Junior Brother is an experimental alt folk singer-songwriter from Co. Kerry whose tunes wander from the humorous to the heady and show the musical influence of his rural upbringing. Accompanied by the musician’s idiosyncratic guitar and foot tambourine, strange stories unfold with reckless abandon. “The tales told here are full of wide-eyed wonders and keen observations. Between the clatter of one and clarity of the other, Junior Brother’s songs are the real deal.”

David Keenan spent much of the Autumn of 2019 touring with Glen Hansard and Hozier, including a concert in Paris’ mythic Olympia. Don’t miss this opportunity to appreciate the raw beauty of his songs in more intimate surroundings as he turns events of domestic life into beautiful stories with the epic sweep of Van Morrison, the high notes of Tim Buckley and the soul of Samuel Beckett.

“In performative terms, [Keenan]’s the best kind of maverick; with his songwriting he strives to get to the heart of the matter via epic swoops and understated sighs.”
