Come and help us beat last year’s record of 7500 people for Fête de la Musique at the CCI. You won’t be disappointed with our line-up of four different concerts: trad, indie- and pop-folk with an urban brass band to top it off!

Concert indie folk

The Young Folk

With Anthony Furey (guitar, lead vocals), Tony McLaughlin (bass, mandolin, vocals), Paul Butler (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Alex Borwick (trombone), Patrick Hopkins (drums)
Young folk

This is not your typical folk band. With its combination of modern musicality and traditional melodies, The Young Folk’s first album The Little Battle has deservedly attracted much attention in Ireland.

"Serious challengers for the area populated by the likes of Fleet Foxes, Mumford & Sons and The Low Anthem."
(Hot Press)

"They are quite simply, one of the most promising young bands to come out of Ireland in several decades, and this debut album is a fantastic calling card and opening gambit for the lads."
(**** Maverick)

Traditional Music

Zoë Conway & John Mc Intyre

Concerts by Zoë Conway and John Mc Intyre are characterised by an exciting blend of fiddle and guitar music that draws on their impressive knowledge of classical, jazz and world music. The recent release of their critically acclaimed album entitled Go Mairir I Bhfad_Long Life To You has brought international attention to this husband and wife duo.

“They attacked their instruments with lightning strikes. It was without a doubt, a masterclass in musicianship. Every note, precise. Every stroke, with absolute conviction. Bravo.”
(Irish Music Magazine)

“Surprises abound in this kaleidoscope of tunes.”
(***** The Irish Times)

Concert pop-folk

Lisa Hannigan

Lisa Hannigan

A former member of Damien Rice’s band, Lisa Hannigan’s solo career has quite simply soared since the release of her first album Sea Sew in 2008. An accomplished songwriter, the depth and variety of her vocal capacity has seduced not only the public but esteemed followers such as Herbie Hancock, The Chieftains, Ray LaMontagne and The Frames.

"There's so much jazz in the notes and phrases that [Hannigan] picks. She was singing the ninths, the elevenths of the chords...I mean some of the things sound like choices that Miles would have made.“
Herbie Hancock

“Unforced, spontaneous and timeless.”

“A mature singer-songwriter possessed of an idiosyncratic yet thoroughly accessible gift.”

Brass band

Booka Brass Band

Paul Keirnan (trumpet), Eoin Young (trumpet), David Conway (sax), Oisin Murtagh (sax), James Doherty (trombone), Paul O'Neil (trombone), Jack Marks (sausaphone), Ronan Scarlett (drums)

Brooka BrassBand

Booka Brass Band has become something of a phenomenon in Ireland. What started out as a group of young music students has rapidly become an eight-piece band of professional entertainers and craftsmen.

“Booka Brass Band has every right to be claimed as Ireland’s best live act right now.”
(GoldenPlec Magazine)

“Booka Brass Band, Ireland's only New Orleans style eight-piece brass band are undoubtedly a “have to see it to believe it” type of act. A range of high energy self-penned tunes combined with quite incredible covers.”
(In Dublin Magazine)
