Beginning life as a series of experimental sessions between fiddler Kevin McCullagh and drummer Conor McAuley, Córas Trio was fully formed in 2022 with the arrival of guitarist Paddy McKeown. Part of a new wave of musicians based in Belfast who are exploring how traditional music relates to the experience of the 21st century, they weave together transcendental electronics, free jazz improvisation and seisiún style playfulness. The trio’s unapologetic challenging of cultural purism has attracted attention from radio programmes in the UK, Ireland and Australia, invitations to perform across Ireland, the UK (including the 2023 London Jazz Festival) as well as Canada, and support leading figures on the folk scene such as Aidan O’Rourke, Brìghde Chaimbeul and Joshua Burnside.

Growing up, Kevin Fowley split his time between living in France and Ireland. He listened to French lullabies sung by his mother in one room, while his father would be playing Donegal tunes on the fiddle in another. Reworking traditional French lullabies and folk songs with contemporary arrangements and faint tape manipulations, Fowley glides across folk, jazz, and a rich, shimmering in-between sound on his acclaimed latest record, À Feu Doux. In 2024 and 2025, Fowley toured as special guest with Oisín Leech, John Francis Flynn, and Nadia Reid across Ireland and the UK.
