Paris et le premier dictionnaire anglais-irlandais

Post date: Monday 8 Jun

This online exhibition explores the history of the "Begly Dictionary", printed in Paris in 1732, a rare copy which has recently joined the CCI Old Library. As the very first English-Irish dictionary, it is a landmark work and a testament to the intellectual, linguistic, and cultural exchanges between Ireland and France in the 18th century.
Several other Gaelic works produced in Paris can also be discovered throughout the exhibition and browsed online.
