In 1999, the West Ocean String Quartet embarked on a fascinating journey of musical experimentation and collaboration. Along the way, the string quartet has shared stages and recording studios with some of the greatest names in music: Christy Moore, Liam O'Flynn, Stephen Rea, Matt Molloy, Eimear Quinn... These four virtuoso musicians have also created their own compositions and arrangements, subtly and joyfully blurring the boundaries between classical and traditional music. Released in 2020, their fifth album, Atlantic Edge, mines and moulds the traditional sounds of the West of Ireland, producing a blend of contemplative tunes and danceable melodies. Acclaimed in Ireland, this "exquisitely elegant" (Songlines) ensemble will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in the CCI chapel.
