Concert by the Irish Chamber Choir of Paris and Lachrimæ Consort

Voyage romain : Qui fol va à Rome, fol en retourne

Born in the first half of the 17th century, Jacques Duponchel spent most of his life in Italy where he published many important works: masses, psalms for Evensong, motets. Qui fol va à Rome, fol en retourne (He who is mad going to Rome, returns mad) evokes French musicians and the voyage to Italy.

The Irish Chamber Choir of Paris directed by Jean-Charles Léon performs this splendid but little known mass for three voices and two instruments as well as French and Italian motets of the same period.
