Chapel Sessions Lisa O'Neill
“Her voice is… transporting live: imagine Edith Piaf coming from the Irish border counties, brilliantly stomping her boots.” (The Guardian)
A raconteur in the truest sense of the word, Lisa O’Neill is a five-time BBC Folk Award nominee and her 2023 album All Of This Is Chance further added to the singer-songwriter’s acclaim. A modern artist tapped into the ancient, her voice pulls at the heart and harkens to different worlds while her live sets are a striking mix of originals and interpretations. Her remarkable adaptation of Bob Dylan’s All the Tired Horses soundtracked the final scene of epic TV drama Peaky Blinders. O’Neill has been lauded by artists and critics alike: “A unique voice in Irish song writing” The Edge, “She’s an extraordinary singer songwriter” Cillian Murphy, “Beautiful, what a strong, beautiful voice” Iggy Pop.
This evening’s concert is opened by Ruth Clinton (Landless) and Cormac Mac Diarmada (Lankum), both currently in residence at the CCI, who will share pieces from their trio Poor Creature.
