The Music Makers

The Music Makers is a music and film performance piece celebrating the creativity, skill and craft involved in traditional music, right through from the making of musical instruments to the performance of the traditional music repertoire. Award-winning film maker Myles O’Reilly shot footage in the workshops of four instrument makers based in County Mayo: violin maker Graham Wright; bow maker Gary Leahy; mandolin and guitar maker Brian Lofthouse; and uilleann pipes maker John Butler. The film is juxtaposed with live traditional music performed on the instruments featured to create a magical evening.
