The companionship of mother and son seeps onto the stage in this wonderfully gentle, perfectly formed duet. The tone is nostalgic but not sentimental and creates a perfectly managed exchange of roles. The duo trip through some clever intimations of synchronized swimming strokes, counter-pointed by waltz and cha-cha, evoking the swaying ballroom dances of old. You can almost smell the sea and feel the grainy sand between your toes as mother and son sit companionably on the bare bench, swinging legs.
