In the lead up to the Franco-Irish Literary Festival which takes place in Dublin from 24 to 26 March, the Alliance Française, the Embassy of France in Ireland and the CCI are delighted to present this evening of spoken word performance with slammers from both our countries.

The French duo Jean-Baptiste Lesaffre and Arthur Charrier hail from Angers where they began performing together as ‘21g’ in 2017. Their elegant writing reflects not just the realities but also the poetic beauty of every day life. The great Irish spoken word artist Stephen James Smith has appeared on Ireland’s most prestigious stages (National Concert Hall, Abbey Theatre…) and his videos – including the captivating ‘My Ireland’ – have now exceeded 3 million views.

Following their performances, the artists discuss language and the musicality of words with DCU lecturer Jean-Philippe Imbert.
