Garth Knox with special guest Sean Hardie, Live electronics: Carl Faia

Speaking strings

For this evening of music, Garth Knox explores the connections between string instruments and the speaking voice. On the viola, he interacts with Sean Hardie, writer-in-residence at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, who will read from his own texts. On the viola d’amore, he plays a new piece composed by Ed Bennett during his residency at the CCI that uses live electronics and the musician’s own voice. The final piece of the evening is Garth Knox’s own version of “Beowulf” for medieval fiddle, voice and live electronics.
