Evening with Judith Mok and Michael O’Loughlin
Originally from Bergen in Holland, Dublin-based Judith Mok is an internationally renowned soprano who has collaborated with some of the world’s greatest composers, musicians and ensembles. Over the last few years, she has put her singing talents at the disposal of big names on the music scene such as Thom Yorke, Grace Jones, Dermot Kennedy and Glen Hansard. This evening, in the beautiful setting of CCI’s chapel, Judith will perform a unique repertoire of Sephardic songs. She will be accompanied by the Iranian musicians Khoshravesh and Youssef Hbeish who will also play some of their own compositions as well as Persian improvisations.
Over the course of the evening, Michael O’Loughlin will read a selection of his own poems as well as texts by Iranian poets. He has published a large number of poetry collections since 1980 and his next, Liberty Hall, is coming out in April 2021. Michael is also well-known as a journalist, translator, essayist and screenwriter.
