Documentary premiere in the presence of the director Donald Taylor Black

Skin in the Game

Skin in the Game, which was nominated for the George Morrison Best Feature Documentary Award at the 2013 Irish Film and Television Academy Awards, examines the current financial and political crisis through the responses of a number of Irish artists who are using it as subject matter for their work. These subjects include emigration, ghost estates and the reckless behaviour of bankers and politicians. It also examines the nature of creative inspiration - how and why artists choose what to make work about.

Artists include: Christy Moore (musician); Seán Hillen (photographer); Rita Ann Higgins (poet); Brian Maguire (painter); David Quin (animator); Anthony Haughey (photographer); Nicky Gogan (filmmaker); David Bolger (choreographer); Gerald Dawe (poet); and David Monahan (photographer). Texts written by Roddy Doyle.

Donald Taylor Black is Director of the National Film School of Ireland.
