With Savina Yannatou (voice), Francesco Turrisi (piano, percussions)
Celebrated Greek singer and composer Savina Yannatou, with her impressive discography of 21 albums, joins Italian pianist Francesco Turrisi for a unique evening of collaboration and exploration. Based in Ireland since 2002, Francesco is ‘one of the most striking voices to have emerged on the European jazz scene in the past decade’ (Ian Patterson, All About Jazz). A musical polyglot, Turrisi’s vocabulary colourfully weaves together early music, pan-Mediterranean modal melodies and European-flavoured jazz. Similarly, Savina Yannatou is a ‘virtuosic chameleon’ (L.A. Weekly) who is noted for her interpretation of Sephardic and Mediterranean songs but equally embraces free jazz and avant-garde music as well as early music. Expect thrilling jazz improvisations with a Greek flavour!
