Róisín Elsafty is a Connemara native and one of the most important singers in the Irish sean nós tradition. Italian pianist and multi-instrumentalist Francesco Turrisi lives in Ireland. The variety of his influences and the breadth of his projects has seen him defined as a ‘musical alchemist’ by the Irish Times. Róisín has collaborated on Francesco's latest album Grigio, reimagining old Irish a cappella songs and giving them a new fresh sound with modern piano arrangements. For their Chapel Session they have invited as their guest Sokratis Sinopoulos, a Greek master of the lyra, a spike fiddle common to the eastern Mediterranean. The magical sound of the lyra will add a further unexpected colour to this truly cross-cultural collaboration.
