Richard Gorman (Royal Hibernian Academy) is an Irish artist who divides his time between Dublin and Milan. Normally he works in series, following some loose logic and allowing each painting to develop spontaneously - informed both by previous paintings and by its own natural evolution. He seeks to make paintings which are clear in their thought process and non- rhetorical. ?When working I try to leave myself open to the possibility of surprise.? Today, Richard Gorman is one of Ireland?s foremost artists working in the area of abstraction; his style is increasingly sublimated into a minimal language of reduction in which colour, form and balance are the most important elements. He has exhibited widely, especially in Dublin, London, Milan and Tokyo. He is a member of Aosdána.
