Rencontre with John Banville
And screening of the documentary 'Carnets de route : Gens de Dublin' in the presence of François Busnel
Renowned for his elegant and honest prose, John Banville was awarded the Booker Prize in 2005 for The Sea and, only a few months ago, was made a knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Ambassador of France to Ireland. Under the pseudonym Benjamin Black, Banville also writes detective fiction. He will be at the CCI for the launch of his latest novel Ancient Light published in French translation by Robert Laffont.
The writer's reading and conversation with Cliona ni Riordan (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3) will be followed by a screening of France 5’s “Carnets de route de François Busnel”. This television documentary (60 mins) features some of Ireland’s best known contemporary writers: Colum MCann, Edna O’Brien, Joseph O’Connor and… John Banville.
On 17 September at 7pm, John Banville will speak at the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris as part of their series “L’Italie et moi”. For further details: www.iicparigi.esteri.it/IIC_Parigi/webform/SchedaEvento.aspx?id=1112&citta=Parigi
