Dublin-born composer and performer Jennifer Walshe has been dubbed “the most original compositional voice” (The Irish Times) and “the Wild Girl of Darmstadt” (Frankfurter Rundschau). A powerful combination of music, performance and AI, her work has been performed and lauded worldwide. Jennifer Walshe’s most recent projects include Mars (2025), Minor Characters (2023) and Time, Time, Time (2019) with Timothy Morton.

Tonight, Jennifer Walshe talks to us about her practice and in particular her new work, The Alonetimes, just two weeks before its Parisian debut at the Fondation Cartier. Produced by the Musica festival, and composed by Jennifer and Philip Venables, this musical theatre production gathers an international cast of artists and technical experts. By turns deeply moving and darkly comic, The Alonetimes weaves together semi-autobiographical stories and historical texts… of broken friendships, fumbled sexual encounters, quiet moments of revelation, mid-life crises, emotional meltdowns and online dating.
Following Paris, The Alonetimes will be presented in Strasbourg this September as part of the 2026 Musica Festival’s focus on Ireland.

The Alonetimes on the 16, 17 and 18 April at the Fondation Cartier (Paris 1), details et reservations here.
