Rencontre with Sorj Chalandon

In October 2011, journalist and writer Sorj Chalandon was awarded the prestigious Grand prix du roman de l'Académie française for Retour à Killybegs, a fascinating and poignant novel about Northern Ireland and the bitter pain of betrayal. The discovery that one of his friends, an IRA hero, was also a double-agent working for the British authorities provided the starting point for Chalandon’s acclaimed novel My Traitor (2008).

In this new book, the ‘traitor’ Tyrone Meehan returns to his childhood home in Killybegs, sparking off a mental journey into the past and an attempt to explain the course his life has taken.
