Born in Dublin, filmmaker Paul Rowley now lives in Brooklyn, New York. His short film was one of the highlights of CCI’s Addressing the Nations at the beginning of 2021. A politically engaged artist, his most recent short film, ‘The Red Tree’, tells the little known history of Italian gay men being arrested and exiled to a remote island during Mussolini’s Fascist regime. He is now completing a feature documentary ‘Gays against Guns’ about the movement to end the gun violence epidemic in the United States which disproportionately impacts LGBTQ+ people and communities of colour. Currently in residence at CCI, he presents several of his recent works tonight and discusses his approach to art and activism.
