Jo Slade s Writer in Residence at the Centre Culturel Irlandais for Winter 2007. She lives and works in Limerick. She is the author of three previous books of poetry: “In Fields I Hear Them Sing” (Salmon, 1989); “The Vigilant One” (Salmon, 1994, nominated for The Irish Times/ Aer Lingus Literature Prize); and “Certain Octobers” (Editions Eireanna, Quimper France, 1997, which received a publication bursary from the Centre du Livre, Paris). She was nominated in 2003 for the "Prix Evelyn Encelot"/ Prix d’Ecriture, Maison des Ecrivains, Paris. Her poems have been published in many journals and anthologies, both in Ireland and abroad.
