Festival des Ecrivains du Monde
Rencontre with Edna O’Brien
- 26 September 15
- 7.30pm, reservation recommended, in English
- €5
Born in Co. Clare, Edna O'Brien is famous for her rich and sensuous prose often dealing with women's disappointment in love. Her literary breakthrough came with The Country Girls trilogy (1960-64) which, like much of her subsequent work, was critical of the prevailing Catholic and nationalistic moral order in Ireland. Her works have gained wide acclaim and her book of short stories Lantern Slides won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize in 1990. O'Brien's novel The Light of Evening was published in 2006 and Byron in Love in 2009. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear one of Ireland’s most esteemed authors read from and discuss her work in the elegant surroundings of the CCI courtyard.
This event is part of the Festival des Ecrivains du Monde (25-27 Sept 15), organised by Columbia Global Centers I Europe, Paris. Full details of the programme : www.festivaldesecrivainsdumonde.fr
