Douglas Kennedy is a popular novelist in both France and Ireland. Born in 1955 in New York, he spent a number of years in Dublin during his twenties (a city to which he is still greatly attached) and now lives between the USA, Canada and Europe. A prolific writer, he has sold millions of copies of his work which varies from thrillers and romances to essays, short stories and plays. His bestsellers include The Pursuit of Happiness, The Woman in the Fifth and, more recently, The Great Wide Open. This event, presented in association with Mná na hEireann France (Women of Ireland), sees the American author discuss his latest book Afraid of the Light. Set in Los Angeles, this novel of high suspense plunges us and the main protagonist, Brendan, into the moral complexities of religious extremism in America today.
