Rencontre avec Colm Tóibín
- Tuesday 2 May 2017
- 7.30pm, reservation recommended, in English
Open air event, seating not guaranteed
- Admission free
Colm Tóibín's The Testament of Mary is a beautiful and daring work that addresses the crucifixion and the shaping of its legacy from the perspective of Jesus’ mother. Following Deborah Warner’s acclaimed theatrical productions in New York and London, la Comédie Française and the Théâtre de l’Odéon invited her to create a new French production which will be presented from 5 May to 3 June 2017 (see below).
In Paris for the opening night at Théâtre de l’Odéon, the thrice Booker-prize nominee Colm Tóibín will be at the Centre Culturel Irlandais for one evening only. A great opportunity to hear him read from and discuss his striking portrait of Mary as well as his latest novel set in 1960s Ireland, Nora Webster, in which a mother pieces her life back together again following her husband’s death.
