Adam is OK to share his story – really it’s alright – it’s OK that his life was turned upside down. Removed is a funny, moving and shocking insight into the experiences of a young Northern Irishman living within the State care system. Based on real-life stories, this monologue masterfully combines notes of vulnerability and defiance, anxiety and hope, excitement and guilt, all of which are heightened by Conor O’Donnell’s sensitive performance as Adam. Having premiered in the Young at Art Belfast Children’s Festival in 2019, Removed was nominated for Best Direction in the 2020 Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards and has garnered praise throughout Ireland.

« This production does what it aims to do well: represent the stories of those who don’t often get to be heard and do so with integrity and grit » (The Irish Times)
