“Poets marched in the Van of the Irish Revolt » announced the headlines of the New York Times in May 1916, followed by an article describing the Easter Rising as “A poetic revolution – indeed a poets’ revolution”. Literary specialist and Professor at the Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3, Clíona Ní Ríordáin will look at the poetic spirit of Padraig Pearse, Thomas McDonagh and Joseph Mary Plunkett and resituate their work within the context of European poetry of the time.
