Gare St Lazare Players first produced Molloy by Samuel Beckett in London in 1996 and played at Edinburgh Festival the following year where Conor Lovett was a Best Actor nominee. Molloy has toured extensively in Ireland and the UK and has also played in Spain, Israel, Germany and had a five-week off-broadway run in New York in 1999. In 2001 the company produced Malone Dies and the following year, The Beckett Trilogy : Molloy, Malone Dies and The Unnamable. In May 2002 Fintan O'Toole, Chief Theatre Critic of The Irish Times, wrote "A cold, hard jewel of a performance, an absolutely riveting experience that, if it ever comes your way, you should drop everything to encounter."
