Behan 100: Macdara Yeates

An undeniable success since 2015, our Gaulín Traditional Singers' Club is a special place for anyone who wants to sing or simply listen to traditional tunes, whether Irish or from other lands. For this special Brendan Behan edition, we are delighted to welcome traditional folk singer Macdara Yeates, who was in residence at the CCI in summer 2021. Described as "a deep and intense performer" (Irish Music Magazine), he is known for his performances of Irish classics, docker songs and the forgotten ballads of his Dublin neighbourhood. Along with historian Donal Fallon, Macdara organised a highly successful event dedicated to Behan this winter. He'll be singing a few a cappella choruses for us, in celebration of Dublin's enfant terrible, whose centenary is being marked this week at the CCI.
