This evening’s Gaulin club will be led by singer Lorcán Mac Mathúna who, together with Daire Bracken, is revolutionising Irish traditional dance music with unprecedented rhythms and singing style inspired by medieval Gaelic strict-metre poetry (see also 2 Dec). Lorcán Mac Mathúna is unlike any singer you have heard before. He is at the forefront of a new wave of traditional singers. A modern singer who has a foot in the contemporary world of extended technique and improvisation, and another in the ancient cadences of sean-nós.
