The Lir Quartet was founded in 2017 by some of Ireland’s foremost musicians. They were invited by Barry Douglas to perform at the Clandeboye Festival for two consecutive years and have toured Ireland on four occasions for the National String Quartet Foundation. This recital is the culmination of the quartet’s residency at CCI and is presented in association with the NSQF. The programme includes works by the contemporary Irish composer Donnacha Dennehy, the Russian Alexandre Borodine and, for the 250th anniversary of his birth, Beethoven’s string quartet Op.127.
