The Joutes Oratoires Interscolaires, founded in 1991 by Mrs Breda Kelly, Secretary of the Alliance Française de Dublin, have become one of Ireland's most prestigious interschools competitions. In January each year, the four best speakers in the Irish competition travel to Paris to take on a team from the Lycée Fénélon Sainte-Marie. The motion for 2005 is: "The Remembrance of the Past is Essential to Building the Future". Generously supported by the Ireland Fund of France.
