This evening, esteemed cultural journalist Emmanuel Tellier presents the series of podcasts he has created to mark the CCI’s 20th anniversary. Capturing different voices, both French and Irish, ranging from artists, writers and musicians to university professors and a well-known book editor, the series highlights how the singular spaces and ambiance of the Centre lend themselves to unforgettable performances and international collaborations.
He will be joined on stage by award-winning novelist Jan Carson – former CCI writer-in-residence and podcast interviewee - to discuss the vital response of artists to the continually evolving situation in her homeplace of Northern Ireland. Her latest novel The Fire Starters revolves around two fathers in Belfast during the marching season and social unrest of 2014. As well as winning the 2019 European Union Prize for Literature and being shortlisted for the Dalkey Book Prize, the novel has been published to significant critical acclaim in France by Sabine Wespieser éditeur.
