In 1606, Nicolas Soret, maître de grammaire at Notre-Dame in Paris, published and put on La Céciliade, a play recounting the martyrdom of Saint Cecilia. Written for the children of the cathedral choir, this piece includes a large musical score composed by Abraham Blondet. The Irish Chamber Choir will perform the arias and the choruses from this work to be accompanied by readings of contemporary poems in French and Irish.
