After the First World War, Kaunas became the provisional capital of a new progressive state of Lithuania. Commissioned for the Kaunas 2022 European Capital of Culture, Klostės takes inspiration from the city’s modernist inter-war architecture. Directed by Aideen Barry, the project of making this black and white non-verbal film involved over one hundred contemporary residents of Kaunas - professional, amateur and volunteer actors, dancers, filmmakers, propmakers and animators worked together to capture the magic and hidden histories of their city.

Shot in 16 locations, the film is an enchanting surrealist escapade for both the spectator and the characters where the past interacts with the future, the living with the dead, and architectural details take on their own persona.
