Gaulín Traditional Singers’ Club Barry Gleeson avec Mariachi Anahuac
- 25 May 16
- 7.30pm, reservation recommended
- €3 (at the entrance)
The Gaulín Traditional Singers’ Club was launched in the CCI last year and is going strong. Singers can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in which to share their traditional repertoire, be it Irish or from further afield.
As “fear a’ tí” this month, Barry Gleeson invites you to an evening of song with a Mexican touch. One of Ireland’s foremost traditional singers, the Dubliner has three CDs to his name and has performed at the National Concert Hall, the Mansion House, Dublin City Hall, Belfast City Hall, the National Museum, the National Library of Ireland and at festivals and clubs throughout Ireland and abroad.
Following his singing of ‘Irish Songs of Rebellion’ at the CCI in 2014, Barry Gleeson returns to Paris as part of the Marché de la Poésie et sa Périphérie which is honouring Mexico this year. Together with the Mexican group Mariachi Anahuac, renowned for their performance of traditional songs, he will pay homage to Irish heroes of the Mexican-American war of 1846-8.
