
Originally from Mayo, George Moore spent seminal years in Paris in the 1870s, initially to study painting. Moving in the same circles as Manet, Degas, Renoir and Pissarro, Moore ultimately became a writer. This 6th colloquium organised by the University of Valenciennes will look at the impact these years had on his artistic awakening and his further development into a literary innovator and conduit of culture between France, Ireland and England.
