The variety of influences and collaborations that inform jazz musician Francesco Turrisi’s performances has seen him defined as no less than a ‘musical alchemist’ by The Irish Times. He has toured and recorded with vocal genius Bobby McFerrin, former Miles Davis reedsman Dave Liebman, flamenco icon Pepe El Habichuela and has been a core member of the celebrated early music ensemble L’Arpeggiata. Born in Turin and now based in Dublin, Turrisi is launching his new solo album in Paris with a special concert at the Embassy of Ireland. ‘Northern Migrations’ is inspired by the ten year journey this Italian pianist has made “from the heart of the Mediterranean to the Northern frontiers of Europe” and features original solo piano compositions and improvisations.
