Fête de la Musique

CCI is quite simply the place to be for Fête de la Musique - last year 5,000 music-lovers joined us in the courtyard! 2018 will be no exception with concerts for all tastes: funk-pop with Katie Laffan, trad music with Cúig and hip-hop with Rusangano Family !

Entrance at 5 rue des Irlandais, Exit at 11 rue Lhomond
Bags will be checked. Large bags and suitcases not accepted.
Glass bottles, bicycles and animals (except guide dogs) not allowed in.

Katie Laffan

Recently named by the Irish Times as one of their ‘people to watch’ in 2018, Dubliner Katie Laffan has been developing her own unique funk-pop sound since the release of her debut EP three years ago. Her alternative disco anthem “Tastemaker’ was a hit on last year’s Irish festival circuit. From funk and modern pop to reggae and ska, post-punk and even a bit of hip-hop, she combines a unique voice with skills on drums, guitar, ukulele and keyboards.

Cúig

With Miceál Mullen (banjo, mandolin), Rónán Stewart (fiddle, uilleann pipes, vocals), Cathal Murphy (percussion, guitar, vocals), Eoin Murphy (button accordion), Ruairí Stewart (guitar)

This five-piece band of talented young musicians from Armagh and Tyrone is tearing up the rule book with their bold approach to their native musical tradition. Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, ‘New Landscapes’ , Cúig were awarded “Best New Irish Band 2016” by the Irish American News. Performing a range of original compositions, traditional Irish, Scottish and world music accompanied by fiery, rock-infused accompaniment, Cúig has brought audiences to their feet in Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Luxembourg and the USA.

Rusangano Family

When two rappers - Made up of God Knows and MuRli - and a DJ - mynameisjOhn – got together in 2015, the Rusangano Family from Limerick was born. Exploring issues such as identity and belonging, Rusangano Family wear their hip-hop and electronic influences proudly and celebrate their respective backgrounds with style. They have toured extensively across Ireland and Europe, and last year saw their debut album ‘Let the Dead Bury the Dead’ awarded the RTE Choice Music prize for Album of the Year.
