This year's edition have a particular focus on traditional and folk music, with the promising Iullahush, who blend Irish sounds with electro, followed by Pólca 4 and their frenetic rhythms. The evening ends with the irresistible guitar riffs of indie rock sensation Pillow Queens. Oscillating between strength, audacity and sensitivity, these groups are sure to deliver another unforgettable evening... Save the date!
Lullahush
Producer and musician Daniel McIntyre aka lullahush has been dubbed one of the Irish Times ‘acts to watch in 2025’ with his delightful marrying of trad and contemporary electronica. Distinctly Irish in his storytelling and sense of melody, lullahush’s songwriting influences are as diverse as Leonard Cohen, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Colleen, Mica Levi and Floating Points. Accompanied by his three musicians, he synthesises the harsh machine sounds of electronic instruments with trad, sean-nós, samples and even voice messages. A surprising kaleidoscope that intentionally reflects the layers and complexities of modern Irish identity.
Listen to "Maggie na bhFlaitheas" from his album Ithaca.
Pólca 4
With Daire Bracken (fiddle), Pádraig Ó Sé (vocals & accordion), Gary O'Brien (guitar) and Robbie Harris (bodhrán & percussion)
This West Kerry quartet breathes new life into time-honoured melodies as they mix local polkas and slides with jigs, reels and songs. Guaranteed to get the foot tapping and blood flowing with their high energy show and vigorous arrangements, their unique musical tapestry has seen them invited to numerous festivals across Ireland and even to Aras an Uachtarán to perform for the President.
Listen to "Neilí 'n Fuacht", one of their most popular hits.
Pillow Queens
With Pamela Connolly (vocales, guitar, bass), Sarah Corcoran (vocals, guitar, bass), Cathy McGuiness (vocals, guitar) and Darragh Tibbs (percussion)
Punchy lyrical content and charismatic stage presence have earned these Dublin queens respect and popularity galore. Bringing out three albums in only four years – including Name Your Sorrow in 2024 – the group rapidly found themselves playing world tours. Indie-pop, grunge, 90s influences and vigorous guitar riffs combine with their powerful narratives to explore Irish society and queer identity: ’the sound of people in tune with life’s turmoil and treasures’ (The Irish Times). And an electrifying finale to this year’s Fête de la Musique!
Listen to "Like A Lesson", a song from their last album Name Your Sorrow.
