An improvising saxophonist, Catherine Sikora has been working in New York City and internationally for several years. Her first solo release, Jersey, came out on Relative Pitch records in 2016 to rave reviews. Her virtuosity and her ingenuity are undeniable and ”the disc is a testament to the brilliance of Sikora's career. (Hrayr Attarian, All About Jazz, 4.5 stars). During this evening’s performance, Sikora will explore compositions from Jersey, "sublimating technique... incorporating dissonance into a stream of delicately abstract lyricism." (John Sharp, New York City Jazz Record)

The Argentinian Tomás Gubitsch was already a star guitarist when he arrived in France with Astor Piazzolla in 1977, aged only eighteen. He continues to perform and collaborate with exceptional musicians such as Vincent Segal and is considered one of the authorities and leading lights of contemporary tango. Full of technical wizardry, his compositions cannot however be tied down to one genre – jazz, tango and world music are integral parts of his musical language.
