Dancing at Lughnasa

Based on the play by Brian Friel, this story of a turning-point summer is set in 1930s Donegal. Told retrospectively by Michael, an illegitimate boy brought up by his mother and her four sisters, it sees their lives changed forever by the return home of his uncle Jack, who has spent 25 years as a missionary in Africa, and a rare visit by Michael’s wayward father Gerry.
