Joshua Burnside returns to the CCI having opened our 2019 Fête de la Musique, An experimental songwriter, he draws inspiration from the beauty but also the torments of his native Northern Ireland and its rich musical and literary heritage. His deft blending of alt-folk and elements of the Irish folk song tradition with South American rhythms were rewarded by his winning the 2017 Northern Ireland Music Prize for his debut album Ephrata. His following albums have confirmed his reputation as one of Ireland’s most talented young indie-folk musicians.
