Irish writer Brian Dillon’s first book In the Dark Room: A Journey in Memory was published by Penguin in 2005. A memoir about the early death of his parents, it offers a poignant reflection on the nature of memory itself. It later won the Irish Book Awards nonfiction prize in 2006. Dillon has curated exhibitions for Tate and Hayward galleries. He is currently an editor for Cabinet, an arts and culture magazine based in New York, and is a Professor at Queen Mary University of London, where he is the Director of Creative Writing. His most recent books are Essayism (2017) and Suppose a Sentence (2020), and he is working on Affinities, a book about images, to be published in 2022.
