With the Paris Bloomsday Group and friends
Bloomsday Picnic
It all started on a certain 16 June 1904! For decades, admirers of the novel Ulysses have celebrated this day in the life of Leopold Bloom during which Joyce situates the entirety of his 265,000 word masterpiece. Traditionally, Bloomsday celebrations evoke the places, dishes and songs mentioned in the novel. In celebration of the centenary of its publication in France, the CCI invites you to put on your best period outfit (a touch of 1904!), and come to the courtyard with your picnic and blanket. Over the course of lunch, the Paris Bloomsday Group and friends regale you with excerpts from Ulysses as well as music and songs liked by James Joyce himself. A convivial coming-together to pay tribute to a monumental modernist one hundred years on!
