For Bloomsday this year, CCI is showing Sean Walsh’s 2003 film Bloom. An enthralling story based on the novel Ulysses by James Joyce, set on 16 June 1904, it opens a gateway into the consciousness of its three main characters: Stephen Dedalus, Molly Bloom and the extraordinary Leopold Bloom.

"Bloom is a bawdy, irreverent, lyrical, compassionate, anguished, earthy, profound and deeply humane slice of life, performed with verve and intelligence by a superb ensemble cast led by Stephen Rea’s soulful and stoical Bloom, Angeline Ball’s sensually direct Molly and Hugh O’Connor’s boyish Stephen."

The screening takes place at the Centre Culturel Irlandais.
